Kloeckner Metals UK offer either aluminium, straight or wide based mild steel and passively safe posts. These are available in a number of lengths straight from stock, or we can cut to your exact requirements in house. Our material is available with a choice of protective coatings. Either galvanised or galvanised and powder coated. Both finishes that are offered are produced in Spain, and the quality of the product has a superior finish to any other product offered in the UK.

A wide range of aluminium post stock is held with a choice of finishes: either mill finished, anodised or powder coated. Material can be powder coated to any bespoke requirement.

Great Crash Test Performance

In crash tests at TRL, the 140 post was rated as N3 classification at 100kph, and at NE2 at 70kph. That gives it the highest safety ranking for a post of this kind.

The FSP Frangible Post System is designed to crumple on impact, and can be said to reduce the risk of secondary accidents associated with debris from the first accident.

Cost Benefits

With the FSP Frangible Post System installation is quick and easy due to using standard equipment and techniques. One installer commented, “A very straightforward installation. It’s even easier than steel posts where we would normally use some lifting equipment’.

The post can be installed in a similar way to a standard steel post i.e. set directly into a concrete foundation or a socket that has previously been set in concrete. Even the clips to hold the sign in place on a steel post work on the FSP Frangible fibre reinforced composite post. And, of course the post is very light so this makes it much easier to handle, and potentially much easier and quicker to install.

Data Availability

Structural performance data for the product will be made available directly to specifiers and users of the FSP Frangible Post System in order that it can be designed into local applications. This data is also being distributed to providers of sign design  software so that as new releases become available they can reflect the suitability of our product for particular sites.

A combination of bases and shafts are available within our range of wide based posts. Material is held in a galvanised condition as standard and can be bitumen rooted or fully painted to suit your requirements.

A full range of plastic internal and external post caps are stocked in house to match our range of mild steel and aluminium sign posts. These are kept in standard road traffic grey, white and black for the use on circular or rectangular posts.
