A Look Back at 2018!

2018 has been another busy year here at Kloeckner Metals UK and we’re ready to welcome the New Year with lots of exciting plans ahead for the business.

This year has seen continued investment and digitalisation of our processes, putting us in great stead for delivering the best possible service in 2019. With so many fantastic highlights to look back on, we’ve selected our top five reasons to celebrate the past 12 months.

  1. The Launch of the Adige LT14 Jumbo Laser

To kickstart the year we introduced the Adige LT14 Jumbo Laser! Increasing our capacity and improving our extensive laser cutting portfolio, we were very proud to announce our acquisition of the second jumbo laser of its kind here in the UK.

Creating new avenues for our customers by offering cutting-edge technological features, the new LT14 Jumbo allowed us to assist the wider market with their steel processing requirements, including opportunities within the nuclear, off-shore and defence sectors.  Find out more here.

  1. The Easter Egg Hunt for Martin House Hospice

At Easter, we supported the fantastic Martin House Children’s Hospice! Chosen by everyone here at Kloeckner Metals UK, the brilliant organisation provides care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions across the North East and West Yorkshire while supporting their families.

We hosted an interactive Easter egg hunt on our website, donating the value of an Easter egg for every entry we received. Prompted by a series of clues, players had to hunt out five out of ten Easter eggs hidden all across our site with the winner receiving one of our brilliant Kloeckner Metals UK portable speakers.

The interactive Easter egg hunt was a huge success and a total donation of £1,000 was given from the Kloeckner Metals UK team! Take a look here.

  1. Health and Safety Week 2018

Health and safety is extremely important for us all at Kloeckner Metals UK so we were chuffed that it was supported and celebrated in the UK during Health and Safety Week 2018.

Our key policy statement here at Kloeckner is the commitment to put health and safety above anything else – ‘Safety 1st’ is the fundamental initiative that we all stand by. Our forward-thinking culture allows us to improve and develop our health and safety policy to keep up with current processes and procedures.

We are very proud of our commitment to health and safety with our Leeds site becoming one of the winners of the British Safety Council’s International Safety Award.

  1. Our Online Shop Turned One!

One year on and our online shop has come a long way since going live in September 2017. A big proportion of our customer base is now registered on the shop and regularly place their business orders online. Within the past year we’ve even made some further developments to improve our customer’s experience.

We can now accept credit card payments, test certificates can be viewed and we have a sale section on the shop where products can be purchased at a discounted rate of up to 50%. In addition we have also integrated our Order Overview Tool into the Kloeckner Online Shop, with an aim to improve transparency and help you stay up to date with information related to your current and historic orders.

We’re very excited for the future of our online shop! If you’ve not visited recently, click here to head there now!

  1. Road Safety Week 2018

2018 also saw us celebrate our support for road safety within our organisation during Road Safety Week, the UK’s biggest road safety event organised by Brake. We constantly strive to improve road safety for our drivers across the country including fitting in-vehicle cameras, left turn warning alarms and Michelin tyres.

We have also offer different schemes and awards for our employees to continue with their road safety development. These include The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) and The ROSCO Safe Driver Award.

We’re very much looking forward to kickstarting 2019 with lots of exciting growth and development plans in the pipeline and new faces joining the UK team. Stay tuned!
