A little more about Tracey and the work she does…

Working with Kloeckner

Q. How do you think Kloeckner differs from other companies in terms of products, processes and culture?

A. Kloeckner is a traditional organisation, the industry has been around along time and some of the long serving staff can sometimes struggle with change and new ways of working. Change is something that we need to support the employees with. The culture is that of being very down to earth and open door, our people are approachable, loyal and want the company to succeed. A lot of support and investment in the company, digitilisation, new equipment, machinery and new systems have been put in place to improve how we do things.

Q. What’s your favourite part of your job?

A. Making a difference to how we do things, HR has a clear voice in the organisation, people are important and it is so refreshing to have your ideas listened to and taken on board.

Three months into the business I have drafted a people strategy which is all around adding value to the business and the positive impact that people can have in our business if we engage, develop and support our people.

Bringing in a new workforce

Q. What do you think about the current recruitment process at Kloeckner and what improvements are coming in the future?

A. We’re very good at employing people from a similar background but through the use of more direct and digital routes such as LinkedIn and Twitter, we are looking at employing apprentices and a fresh young workforce so we can develop roles where we have gaps on our succession plan. We are working with colleges to develop our apprentice scheme.

Q. How will Kloeckner get involved in an active recruitment drive and work to inspire a new workforce?

A. We are embarking on apprentices in key areas within our business so we can develop our new employees into key roles for the future.  We are developing a recruitment strategy to attract the right people for our business from a diverse background by looking at events such as recruitment fares.

Q. What is the importance of bringing new and young talent into the business, what value does Kloeckner place on this?

A. As a business in is vital for our sustainability to bring in young talent to ensure they bring their ideas and support our innovation and digitilisation agenda.

Anything exciting in the pipeline?

Q. Where do you think the industry is going?

A. The industry is looking to develop its manufacturing/value added services which will help us develop our portfolio of offerings and increase our potential to grow our business and customer base. It is a very exciting time for the business and a great place to work for innovation and growth.

As an employee we have an excellent benefits portal that offers all our employees a selection of benefits which can be suited to individuals e.g. various schemes, cycle to work, vouchers, buying and selling annual holiday etc.

Developing our employees is key to our success we have various management development programmes to develop our employees for the next step.
