Dibond® Traffic is an aluminium composite sheet produced by 3A, which has a 0.3mm aluminium skin, and a UV resistant polyethylene core. Dibond, short for Display Bond, was first made in 1993, specifically for the sign market. It was based on the Alucobond manufacturing method.

The nature of Dibond® Traffic makes it ideal for achieving distortion free road signs. And the stove enamelled finish will ensure excellent adhesion. It is available either in sheets or pre-cut shapes in a traffic grey, or black finish.

3A have also issued a 12 year warranty against product failure.

It has been tested by Bollhoff to use with their riveting system and can be processed using a variety of techniques, including shearing, sawing, punching and folding. Dibond® Traffic is fully recyclable and is compliant with ISO 9001, ensuring continuous high quality, due to the extended inspection program 3A enforce.

Dibond® Traffic is the only ACM that has been tested and approved by the BSI to EN 12899 and satisfies the clauses relating to impact and corrosion resistance.

GRP

GRP is comprised of glass fibres, polyester resins, inert fillers, UV stabilisers, promoters and flame retardants. GRP had previously only been known to the sign industry as a temporary solution for road traffic signage however a new version, MP GRP, has been developed as a suitable replacement for aluminium and steel permanent signs. The product is supplied with a 12 year warranty and in testing conducted to date MP GRP substrate has proven to be compatible with 3M reflective sheetings, as well as being warranted by 3M for adhesion. Kloeckner Metal UK are happy to supply both GRP or MP GRP dependent on your requirement for permanent or temporary material.

Finish and Colours

  • Road traffic grey

Supplementary Services

  • Cut-to-size, bespoke sizes, bollhoff

Applications

  • Sign panels and road traffic signs

Cross Reference

  • Channel, fixing systems, posts, clips, bollhoff

One of the main advantages of GRP is that it has a certain price stability in comparison to aluminium. There is less price fluctuation of GRP’s components meaning that as the price of aluminium continually increases, GRP offers you the opportunity to save more and more money. Both GRP products are made to Department for Transport regulations and comply with British Standard BS8442 for temporary signs and BS EN 12899-1:2001 for permanent signs.

The product is available in a variety of colours, including standard road traffic grey for temporary use (see Dibond Traffic® for permanent composite).

Alucore

Alucore® high rigidity with a extremely low weight. Alucore® is an aluminium sandwich-type panel with high rigidity and extremely low weight. Contrary to conventional honeycomb composite panels with brittle-hard adhesives, Alucore® uses a viscoplastic adhesive. The result is a better peel strength as well as additional fabrication options.

The flatness and proven Alucobond lacquer coat finish are superb characteristics of Alucore® composite panels, making it suitable for signage. The Alucore® aluminium skins are stove-lacquered with high quality lacquers following ECCA (european Coil-Coating Association) standards. This finish makes Alucore® resistant to weathering, extreme sunlight, industrial atmospheres, moisture and soiling.

Alucore® can be recycled with any other aluminium without prior separation or sorting. It is available in a wide range of standard and special colours and sheet sizes.
