Overview

The Stage is a huge £750m mixed use development in Shoreditch, East London which is being built on the archaeological remains of a Shakespearean theatre.

The History

The development comprises of 4 buildings which will provide over 400,000 sq. ft of new residential, commercial and retail space around a central public piazza which will include a 200 seat sunken amphitheatre and will showcase the archaeological remains of the Curtain Theatre where a number of Shakespeare’s plays were first performed, including Romeo and Juliet and Henry IV.

The Piazza will be one of the biggest in London and also includes a 19th century railway viaduct, the top of which will be made into a public park.
